Hello!

Hi everyone! My name is Vickie Knueven! I just graduated with my BAE from NKU, so this is my first semester in the grad program. My focus is Literature and Comp/Rhet, and I hope to teach at the college level. I am glad to see some familiar faces, so that I can start to get to know others in the program! I am looking forward to a fun and stimulating class!

Bonam Fortunam- Good Luck!

Hi Everyone,

I so enjoyed meeting all of you today and look forward to this class.  So many of us have concurrent interests and I know that I am going to learn so much!

I currently tutor students in GRE verbal skills, Latin, ESL, reading, writing, and math.  In the past I have taught high school Literature, Latin, and religion, as well as summer reading programs for all ages. Honestly, I love to teach any age group- which is why my teaching past is so mottled.

I am in this program for my MAE  with a focus in Rhetoric and Composition and in Literature in order to teach writing and literature at a college or at a private high school. Also, I have wanted to take more literature classes for about six years, so I decided this would be the year I would finally pursue that dream.

Hi, Everyone!

Hello there,

My name is Sara Moore. I really enjoyed the first class and am excited about how small it is. I feel like we can all really get to know each other and learn things from the varying knowledge bases.

As for me, I’ve taught both ESL and high school literature. I love teaching most when I have creative freedom in the classroom! I love books and writing. I got my BFA in creative writing at BGSU in 2004, am on the creative writing track here, and am currently the poetry editor for the LLR.

I’m looking forward to learning more about all of you!

Welcome to ENG 600!

Welcome to ENG 600 Intro to Graduate Studies!

We will use this blog as a forum for class observations, based on certain theoretical perspectives, of  Ian McEwan’s novel Atonement.

During the first week of classes, you are asked to introduce yourself to the class and to comment on each introduction on the blog.

Afterward, as scheduled for the course, you are expected to create one blog post, 750-1000 words in length. I highly recommend that you compose your post in a text editor such as Wordpad or Notepad. Note that using Microsoft Word to compose your post might introduce embedded codes that are difficult to edit and that might produce unexpected effects. When you are happy with your post, then cut and paste it into the blog, add tags, and publish it! Adding “tags,” or keywords,  make it easier for your blog users to pull up your post based upon subject matter. Please use all lower-case letters when creating a tag. As a minimum, your blog post must include the following tags: your last name (all lower-case), the theoretical school you are applying to the work, the authors last name (all lower case), and the name of the novel (all lowercase). You need not create a category; the category for all posts used in our class will be “atonement.” Note that without the tag for your last name, I may have difficulty pulling up your post for grading purposes.

During weeks when you are not required to create a blog post, you are expected to submit a substantive comment that assesses each blog post in a collegial, helpful, and astute manner.

If you, as a class, would also like to use the blog for discussions of other materials, please feel free to initiate your own discussions. Be sure, though, to add appropriate tags to identify the subject of your posts.

I look forward to working with all of you!
